“We can do it ourselves!”

This is one of the first things students on a Destination Imagination team learn.  Destination Imagination (DI) is a creative problem solving competition.  This year, the Family Learning Center, supported by our 21st Century LC after school program, has two DI teams.  The students solve a challenge by creating a skit (8 minutes or less) that includes research, a technical element, and a good story.  All of the ideas and work included in the presentation are team-generated.  Adult team managers teach and guide the process, but mustn’t interfere in the solution.

This week, even on snowy days, students were busy practicing, creating, and doing the paperwork documenting their solution.  The teams, The Unexpected Charmed Ones, and Sauce Clan, will be competing in the Eastern Regional DI tournament at Richland High School on Saturday, March 2.  The tournament is open to the public.  If you’d like to come support our teams, The Unexpected Charmed Ones (a team of girls) will present their solution to a Medical Mystery at 8:20 am on the RHS auditorium stage.  Sauce Clan (a team of boys) will present their Game On solution at 2:40 pm in the high school library.
