Charles H. Henagar, Jr. Ph.D.
Chuck Henagar’s diverse background and extensive experience greatly enhanced B5 in various capacities. As the B5 Board President, Chuck provides strong leadership and strategic guidance to the organization. Additionally, he generously volunteers as a teacher in B5’s afterschool program, utilizing his wealth of knowledge and skills to benefit the students.
Chuck’s professional journey spans a remarkable 40-year career as a Senior Research Scientist at PNNL before his retirement in 2019. With a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington, as well as undergraduate degrees from Whitman College and Columbia University, Chuck brings a wealth of academic expertise to the table.
In 1996, Chuck, along with his wife Pam and their two children, had a transformative experience working for the US Department of Energy in Washington DC. This opportunity expanded their perspectives and broadened their horizons, influencing their outlook on the world.
Drawing upon his scientific background, Chuck shares his knowledge by teaching LEGO Robotics and computer coding to middle schoolers in B5’s afterschool program. Furthermore, he dedicates one day a week to teaching chess, contributing to the students’ intellectual development and strategic thinking skills.
Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Chuck and Pam enjoy an active lifestyle. They find pleasure in riding bikes, hiking, gardening, and exploring new destinations through travel. Adding to their joy, they have a 3-year-old Löwchen pup named Diggory.
Chuck’s multidimensional expertise, passion for education, and dedication to B5’s mission make him an invaluable asset to the organization, positively impacting the lives of students and contributing to its overall success.

John McCoy
John McCoy’s extensive background and diverse experiences significantly benefit the nonprofit organization B5 in various capacities. As the B5 Board Vice President and Chair for the Bridges to New Beginnings Capital Campaign, John plays a pivotal role in driving the organization’s growth and development by spearheading the construction of a new B5 Learning Center.
John retired in 2021 after a notable 33-year career in Information Technology and National Security at PNNL. Earlier in his professional journey, he spent two years working at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. This international experience allowed him to connect with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, fostering an appreciation for people and cultures from around the world. These experiences have deeply influenced John’s perspective and align closely with B5’s mission.
Educationally, John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Lewis-Clark State College, earned in 1983. He further enhanced his education by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Idaho in 1987. This educational background, combined with his experiences abroad, equips John with a unique skill set that allows him to effectively connect with the mission and goals of B5.
Outside of his involvement with B5, John actively contributes to the community in various ways. He was a member of Leadership Tri-Cities Class XVI and served on the Leadership Tri-Cities Board, taking on roles such as Session Director for Local and State Government Day and Sponsorship Director. Additionally, John is engaged with Skyline Adventures, a nonprofit outreach program that brings skiing and snowboarding opportunities to disadvantaged, high-risk youth, healing veterans, and disabled citizens.
Through his leadership, diverse experiences, and commitment to community engagement, John brings immense value to B5. His expertise, passion for connecting with people, and dedication to transforming lives align perfectly with the organization’s mission, furthering its impact and success.
Marisa Roosendaal, CPA

Marisa Roosendaal, CPA
As a board member of B5, Marisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a Manager and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). With almost 10 years of experience in public accounting, Marisa has specialized in working with nonprofit organizations, agricultural entities, and start-up tech companies. She also serves as the Form 990 preparation manager for her firm, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
Marisa’s professional education includes extensive training in accounting and auditing standards, with a particular focus on agriculture and non-profits. She stays up to date with the latest regulations through studies on tax developments specifically impacting farmers as well as annual updates in nonprofit accounting and auditing. Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development allows her to provide valuable insights and guidance to B5.
In addition to her professional achievements, Marisa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, graduating cum laude from Whitworth University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Washington and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Outside of professional work, Marisa is a mother to two beautiful girls. Together with her husband, the family enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing in our great outdoors.

Bryan Tinnan
Bryan Tinnin serves as the Board Secretary for B5, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the organization. After retiring as the Manager of Timber and Forestry at PCA, Bryan has continued his professional journey as a Purchasing Specialist at Washington River Protection. With an impressive 38-year career in the Pacific Northwest timber industry, Bryan’s expertise is an asset to B5.
Over a decade ago, Bryan and his wife Angel became new arrival mentors, embarking on a journey that would lead to meaningful friendships within the refugee community. Little did they know that their early interactions would foster such close bonds. Throughout their ten years of direct involvement with refugees, B5 has consistently provided unwavering support, leaving a lasting impact on Bryan and Angel.
Having witnessed firsthand the profound effect that B5 has on the community, it was an easy decision for Bryan to join the board. His admiration for the organization’s work and the positive changes it brings to people’s lives motivated him to take on the role of Board Secretary. Bryan’s commitment and passion make him an invaluable member of the B5 team.

Côme Nzibarega’s exceptional background equips him with invaluable skills and experiences that greatly benefit B5 in assisting new arrival refugees. Originally from war-torn Burundi, Côme’s personal journey of overcoming challenges has fueled his drive to thrive in the United States and make a difference in the lives of others.
With a remarkable six-year tenure at World Relief, Côme has honed his expertise in the humanitarian field. His unwavering commitment to assisting refugees and facilitating their successful integration into new communities is evident through his dedicated service. Furthermore, while pursuing his education at Whitworth University, Côme generously shared his knowledge and passion as a French teacher at Northwest Christian High School, highlighting his profound commitment to education.
Currently, Côme is further enriching his education by pursuing an MBA while simultaneously holding a position at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Through his work at DSHS, he actively contributes to the betterment of his community, effectively merging his educational pursuits with practical hands-on experience.
Côme’s professional achievements stand as a testament to his unwavering dedication to creating positive change in the world. His unique background, coupled with his deep empathy and understanding, make him an invaluable asset to B5.
