People driving into the Central Park Apartment parking lot on Thursday night were greeted with flashing blue lights and sirens. Police officers were everywhere. What happened?

Something was happening, but it was a celebration, not a crisis. The Kennewick Police Department brought dinner (halal burgers) to the families of the Family Learning Center. Chief of Police Chris Guerrero and his officers handed out stickers, met families, and served a delicious dinner from Swampy’s BBQ.

It was good for these new residents of Kennewick to have a chance to meet the Kennewick Police in a friendly setting, and for the policemen to meet these people they serve. And it turned out to be a beautiful evening for a party.
