Officer Roman Trujillo from the Kennewick Police Department visited our adult English classes this week. He came to answer our students’ questions. He reminded them that in our community, the police are servants of the people.
Many of our students come from countries where the police aren’t the servants of the people. In this season of thanksgiving, our students are thankful to be living in a place where police officers are their protectors, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to introduce them to each other.
Thanks to the Kennewick Police Department for this visit, as well as to translators from the Kennewick School district who translated the presentation into Ukrainian, Karen, Arabic, Dari, and Spanish for our students. The Kennewick Boys & Girls Club, Kennewick Clubhouse allows us to use their building for these classes.
