These families! Most of them have been in the US less than a year. It was our joy to share an outing to the zoo with them. This year, about 120 people came with the Family Learning center on one of two different trips. On the way, there was a stop for a picnic at Multnomah Falls. Experiences like these increase understanding of life in the US and expose people to other areas in the Northwest. People get to use and learn English in a new context. Plus it never hurts to give parents and kids a chance to have fun together! We believe we serve kids best by supporting and encouraging their parents, too.
