Thirteen high school girls from the Family Learning Center attended the Dream It, Be It conference presented by Soroptimist International this past Saturday. The girls learned skills they need to plan for a great future. Topics included discovering dreams, exploring careers, financial basics, and balancing stress. Hsa Wah Shee and Yalda Jalali from the FLC came along to provide support as girls broadened their horizons. They met with wonderful women mentors from our community, and as you can see, had a great time! We know this is a positive experience for these young women, because girls who attended last year encouraged their friends to come with them this time.
This wasn’t the first good thing that happened this week because of Soroptimists. On Friday, members of Soroptimist International of Pasco-Kennewick stopped by with a check to provide books and materials for our adult English classes (ESL).
