In the United States, we take it for granted that children will attend school and learn how to read. For many of the students in B5’s adult English classes, however, that wasn’t true. B5 is their first school!!
With the help of teachers, dedicated volunteers, and a lot of hard work on the part of the students, five of our beginning students graduated to level one in March. Learning to read as an adult is very challenging, but these students are used to overcoming challenges.

If you can read this, thank the people in your life who helped you learn, and consider how you might help adults in our community who never had the opportunity to learn to read. You can become a monthly donor here and provide essential funding for B5 programs, or consider becoming a volunteer by submitting an application here.
Thank you for all that you do to support B5’s work and making our community a welcoming space for all.
