Three years ago, Sifa walked through the doors of B5 Learning Center ready to begin something new. She had no prior experience with the English language, but she brought something equally important: a willingness to learn, the determination to keep going, and a joyful spirit that continues to brighten our classrooms. Learning a new language as an adult takes time, patience, and courage. There are new words to discover, unfamiliar challenges to navigate, and moments when progress can feel slow. But with every class, every conversation, and every hour of practice, Sifa has continued moving forward.
And this month, we have two wonderful reasons to celebrate. Sifa demonstrated growth in all four English language skill areas, advancing an entire English Language Acquisition (ELA) level. It’s a meaningful achievement that reflects three years of persistence, dedication, and hard work.
But there’s another milestone worth celebrating: Sifa passed the written portion of her driving test! For many of us, taking a written driving test might feel like an ordinary step toward getting behind the wheel. For someone learning a new language, it can represent something much bigger: growing confidence, greater independence, and new possibilities in everyday life.
These accomplishments are Sifa’s. She earned them through countless hours of studying, practicing, and believing in what she could achieve. Along the way, B5’s teachers, volunteers, and supporters have been there to encourage her, celebrate her progress, and remind her that she is capable of reaching her goals.
That’s what learning looks like at B5. It’s not simply about mastering a new language. It’s about building the skills and confidence to navigate life, connect with others, and create new opportunities for yourself and your family. And sometimes, the most meaningful progress can be found in the moments that might otherwise seem small.
